Today’s Gratitude Item: That my 6th graders are not that great at reading carefully. We gave them a test today and the mark scheme (ie: answers) were inadvertently stapled to the back of each paper. I’m not sure whether to be relieved or horrified that none of them appeared to notice! Lets just say that’s the last time I accept a bunch of photocopied tests from a colleague without carefully checking them first. Of course this does answer a question I’ve had for a while. Would they do any better if we gave them the answers with the test? Apparently the answer to that question is a resounding “no”. I wish I was kidding about this but I’m not.
