It turns out that horse show mussel is a poor cousin to paua (abalone). Cool thing is, the shells are easily found at my local beach and can be broken / sanded to fit a desired shape.

Today’s Gratitude Item: Today was the last day that I saw my 11th Grade CS students as they go on study leave and I am switching schools next year. They organised a surprise pizza party which included a lovely vanilla cake (they know I don’t eat chocolate) and they gave me flowers, a card (which most of them wrote in) and some tiramisu cake as a gift. I am deeply impressed by how thoughtful and kind ‘my kids’ are and am definitely going to miss teaching them next year.
