Today’s Gratitude Item: Wikimedia Commons in general and Public Domain images in particular. Finding reasonable quality *free* images which can be used with artist’s permission is really wonderful. If only I could teach my clients to use these resources. They currently tend to do a google search for images and then ask me to include whatever they find in various publications – all too often they send through images which are watermarked (not cool). As someone who sells work on-line, I get really, really annoyed when people don’t respect copyright even if it is sometimes through ignorance. I wish that people would realise that just because images are on-line, it does not make it OK to use them without asking permission first.
