Yom Hashoah

For those of you who don’t know what Yom Hashoah is, it is holocaust memorial day and it is officially on the 26th Nisan (ie: 5th May).

This is a sad and sombre time as we remember the millions of Jews murdered by the Nazis from 1933 – 1945.

The word “holocaust” means a massive slaughter / genocide. It can also mean a sacrificial offering that is consumed entirely by flames*. I have used the latter meaning as inspiration for today’s fractal.
*Thanks to dictionary.com for the definitions above.

Ironically the fractal is a flame. In the center is a Star of David surrounded by, but not consumed by the flames. This is symbolic of the fact that even though the Nazis tried to eliminate the Jews, they failed.

May the memory of those who perished never be forgotten.
